I purchased a few botlles of absinthe for my green fairy birthday party. Any tips about authentic cocktails would be welcome.

Hmmm...what is the point of drowning a herbal liquor with others flavours? I think the only thing that should be mixed with absinthe is water (+ sugar if you like it) Kate, If you have bought a quality absinthe then I suggest savouring it for it's own tatse. Gin and vodka are a good base for cocktails but absinthe? I know that Tolouse Lautrec used to drink absinthe with cognac but then....he liked to drink a lot I think.

sorry Nick but I disagree. there are 2 kinds of absinthe drinkers:
1. those who like the taste, or get used to the taste (and it is an acquired taste, let us not pretend otherwise)
2. those who like the absinthe effects but don't care much for the strong alcohol or that potent herbal attack on their taste buds

for (2.), absinthe-based cocktails is a viable and enjoyable option
