I was wondering if anyone actually knows what kind of absinthe the famous poets like Oscar Wilde, Rimbaud and Verlaine drank? Is there any mention in letters or books? Thx. Help4Essay :-)

The kind that made them drunk! There were 4 grades of absinthe Absinthe Superieure, Absinthe Fine and Absinthe Ordinaire and "others" My guess is that they would have been drinking the cheaper option..."others" which might cost anything from 25 to as little as 5 centimes for a glass.

i guess this will come too late for your essay, but rimbaud's biography by graham rob is excellent and might give some answers

Did you know there is a "lost suitcase" from Rimbaud's days in Africa? He was teetotal then though. 0/10 F

Edmund White has just published a new work on Rimbaud, The Double Life Of A Rebel.
