Political correctness strikes again. The PC loonies have decided to re-write the famous sea shanty. Which do you prefer:

1. PC Version (the pissed up sailor has been turned into a "grumpy pilot" ;-)

What shall we do with the grumpy pirate?

2. The original version

Put him in bed/the brig/the hold with the captain's daughter,

Stick him in a bag and beat him senseless,

Put him in the grog barrel til he's pickled,

There are couple of other verses suggested by some sources (but I think they may be apocryphal ;-)

Slap him around and call him Suzie,

Put a bag over his head and kick him in the bollocks,

Pirates might drink absinthe actually!!! Rum was used to make the water on board ship safe to drink. Louche me up a glass, Mr Christian. 1500- 1700 no absinthe though :-(
