Cool website. Where can I find absinthe in India please? I have looked everywhere and no luck at all. Do I need to order it online and does anyone have any experience of importing? Thanks.

MsJekYll said on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 at 23:31...

I really have no idea Robby. I was hoping someone else might answer this... Anyone knows?? I guess you could ask a few online dealers if they've ever shipped to India and what the policy/procedure is.

"its still and illegal drug, the original Absinthe as many may know is still restricted"

No, that is not true actually. The fact that it is not widely available in India does not mean that it is restricted. Perhaps you are talking about thujone levels though, I am not sure what you mean.

Oh? The only trustworthy source is Patel Wines is it? Hmmmm.....forgive my cynicism, but do you work there, rahul? What do you mean by 1000 bucks for a peg?

ty9 said on Sat, 9 Jan 2010 at 10:35...

Like a clothes peg? Perhaps it means a shot in India? Old ladies in headscarves with a bunch of lucky heather used to sell clothes pegs, but never absinthe.

i called up patel wine shop. they were out of stock.
however they said they serve only one brand with72.5% alcohol level.
bottle comes for 4400.

can anyone confirm if they are selling the athentic product -made with wormwood.
I heard czech absinthe do not use wormwood.

also can u suggest any authentic brands. or where can i get Verte/Blanche de Fougerolles or un emile ???

Lamar said on Sun, 21 Feb 2010 at 10:00...

Generally the czech absinthe have less anise (like licorice taste) and lots of wormwood (some people think too much!) The one with 72.5% is Hapsburg absinthe and it is from Bulgarian

VXI Trading said on Wed, 24 Feb 2010 at 08:36...

Hello,

We look for a partner in India who wish to sell our absinthe range! It is made with REAL WORMWOOD and 70% proof. Please write and tell us how we can work together ----> vxitrading (at) yahoo.com

You get 55% "Fee Verte" at Paris duty free for 21Euro (750cl) and a 70% one for 25 Euro.I got one into Delhi,no issue with customs. But don't expect to see the "Fee Verte"!

greenfairy said on Sat, 20 Aug 2011 at 11:23...

Nihal - check out this website greenfairyabsinthe.co.in. Nemesinthe and Enigma absinthes avaialable in Goa. If you approach a European online supplier, they will advise you that it would be very difficult to get absinthe through Indian Customs, liable to be confiscated and therefore a loss of good absinthe and money

Greenfairy said on Sat, 20 Aug 2011 at 11:26...

Please respect your absinthe. High alcohol levels do not represent the best products. Remember to serve in a long glass, dilute with chilled water and add sugar to taste. Enigma absinthe is delcious served as a summer cocktail with ginger beer.
